Shopping in Sydney

Sydney offers a wide variety of shopping areas that appeal to many varied tastes.

For those looking for high end fashion such as Gucci, Hermes and the like you will find these stores located in the central Sydney business district. Other places you can shop for high end fashion from both International and local designers boutiques include Double Bay, Paddington and The Sydney Strand Arcade located on Pitt Street Mall in the city centre.

Sydney City department stores including David Jones and Myer as well as Bondi Junction Westfield are also great places to shop.

If your looking for some cutting edge or vintage pieces Darlinghurst and Newtown might have what you are looking for. If it’s bargains your after then you can not go past Chinatowns Market City and Paddy’s Market as well as the popular DFO (Discount Fashion Outlet) located in the western suburbs area of Homebush Bay right next to The Sydney Olympic site.

There are also the many markets such as Paddington and Glebe on Saturdays and Bondi Beach on Sunday’s offering a wide range of great second hand finds to young up and coming designers.

Bondi Junction Westfield - 500 Oxford Street, Bondi Junction

Market City Chinatown

If your looking for a bargain or your travelling on a budget then Market City in Sydney's Chinatown is your answer. Two floors full of designer outlet stores and quirky Asian clothing and accessory stores. Adjoining Market City is Paddy's Market which runs from Thursday to Sunday and public holidays, over 100 stalls pack into this warehouse space where you will find toys, clothes, shoes and much more at low prices.

Oxford Street, Paddington

This is where you will find clothing and shoe boutiques for the person with style and a budget to match. Paddington is home to some of Australia's top designers such as Colette Dinnigan and Akira Isogowa as well as the infamous Corner Shop which stocks designer labels with an edge. There is also some high end vintage clothing and homewares and the infamous folkways music store. Saturday's sees the Paddington markets located at the Paddington church,(Oxford Street) where up and coming designers and artists sell there wares, this is a must see during your stay in Sydney.

George Street, The Rocks

If your looking for more contemporary and handcrafted souvenirs to remind you of your travels look no further than the historical shopping area of The Rocks. Including Woodwork, textiles, fashion Aboriginal and Australian Art, you will find something unique. The weekly Sunday Market sees the Northern end of George Street come to life with craftspeople, farmers and designers selling there products as well as street entertainment that adds to the great atmosphere.
